OLPC (Austria) at 26C3
OLPC (Austria) attended the 26th Chaos Communication Congress (26C3) which took place in Berlin from Dec. 27 through Dec. 30. Christoph also gave a presentation called After the Hype - The current state of One Laptop per Child and Sugar Labs during the congress. A video-recording of the presentation is available for download (~700MB) and you can find the accompanying slides here.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Looking back at the past 12 months it's safe to say that 2009 has been a very exciting year for the OLPC and Sugar Labs initiatives in general and OLPC (Austria) in particular. We saw the pilot project in Graz making a lot of progress and had a great time collaborating with our partners at the University of Teacher Education Styria and Graz University of Technology. Additionally we had a chance to meet a lot of international community members at various events across Europe. We were also invited to give talks about One Laptop per Child at various Austrian universities and discuss the opportunities and challenges related to bringing ICT into education in remote regions of the world with a lot of students. Finally we will end our year with a presentation on this very topic during the famous Chaos Communication Congress (26C3) in Berlin at the end of December.
We would like to take this opportunity and thank all of our partners and supporters for their work and dedication. This year's progress would not have been possible without you and we really enjoyed collaborating with you every step of the way. A Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and relaxing holidays to you all, we already look forward to working with you again in 2010!
P.S. We have yet to finalize the details for our first public meeting in 2010. Please keep an eye on this site or subscribe to our mailing list for more information as it becomes available.
